Dear Arts Action Fund Member,

Image of the Congressional Arts Report Card CoverAs we approach the 2022 Congressional midterm elections on November 8th, another critical election cycle may once again alter the balance of power in the nation. It’s said that the only constant is change…. and as arts supporters on the front lines of the 2022 midterm elections, we ALL need to be prepared for what a new Congress brings us both in opportunities and in challenges in 2023.

As your new chairman of the Americans for the Arts Action Fund PAC, let me take a moment to introduce myself. My love for the arts and politics started in the nation’s capital, where I was born to a Latina, Yolanda Garza Boozer. My mother served as the secretary to Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson, who went on to sign into law the creation of the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities as part of the Great Society. I was also fortunate enough to grow up both on the rural LBJ Ranch and in Austin, Texas, a city that proudly celebrates its artistic community. My 37-year professional career as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. has centered around communications and advocacy as a means to support my personal artistic endeavors from co-chairing the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts.

The Americans for the Arts Action Fund PAC, however, is about YOU and your support of leaders in Congress who represent a pro-arts agenda. My sole goal as your Chair is to work together to elect representatives from every demographic, region, and political party that can make a difference in supporting the arts.

The most important resource that we use to make decisions on how to financially support pro-arts candidates is the Congressional Arts Report Card. Please know that the Americans for the Arts Action Fund PAC will only use your membership contributions to support incumbents with a favorable “thumbs up” rating.

I ask that you please give what you can to support the Arts Action Fund. Your contribution will support our arts advocacy campaigns and produce publications, like the Congressional Arts Report Card, ArtsVote State Voter Factsheets, and Why the Arts Matter in Your State factsheets which are all available on our Arts Action Fund website. We’ll also extend your Arts Action Fund membership through 2023!

Respectfully with warm regards,

Lyndon K. Boozer
Chairman of the Americans for the Arts Action Fund PAC
