We all have our own reasons for standing up for the arts and arts education. For me it’s the fact that I find myself transported to another time and place whenever I read a book – like a mini vacation from my regular life. Add to that the experience of band throughout my school years where I not only learned teamwork and made incredible friends but also constantly used that math I hated so much and I can easily say the arts and arts education have positively impacted my life. I want others to have those experiences too, whether it be walking a museum and discovering a new artist, finding themselves while acting the part of someone else on stage or simply enjoying a summer concert.
