On February 15, 2017, a bipartisan group of 24 U.S. Senators signed their names to a letter to President Donald Trump, requesting that the President support the Chairmen of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).

The Senators cite a number of reasons to support these federal cultural agencies, pointing out that “the NEA supports art and education programs in every Congressional District in the United States.” Furthermore, the letter states that there is a direct Constitutional basis for the NEA and NEH, writing that “Article I, Section 8 explicitly empowers the United States Congress to promote the “Progress of Science and useful Arts.”

It is important that we back up this letter by showing grassroots support for the arts. That’s why you should add your name to our National Petition to Donald Trump. If you have signed already, forward this link (www.ArtsActionFund.org/TrumpPetition) to at least five of your friends so that we can keep the momentum growing!
